Dusty's Bio
March 30, 2009
Well, My name's Dusty (obviously) And I'm the drummer and percussions behind the band Sultan (obviously). As far as music goes I listen to about everything except Rap and Country. I like 80s & 90s Punk, Classic Rock, Oldies, Alternative (especially 90s), Hard Rock, Industrial Metal, Tanz (or Dance Metal), Neue Deutsche Härte, Blues and Soul. In the world of drumming, my style is closer to punk rock more than anything, but I'm getting the hang of the metal beats.
I've been around music my entire life. It's pretty much a family tradition that goes way back. I learned to play drums at the age of about 11 when my mother joined a country band. Their drummer taght me the basics and things just slowly went from there. I didn't really take an intense interest in until I was about 13, which is when I started getting the ear for harder music like Punk, Thrash, Metal, and things of that sort. I heard the drum beats of Christoph "Doom" Schneider of Rammstein for the frist time when I was 14, and I knew the passion I'd be pursuing for the rest of my life.
As far as equipment goes, I use Tama drums and heads, Meinl cymbals, and Ludwig sticks. They are currently the tools of my trade because quite frankly Meinl makes the best sounding cymbal out there, Ludwig are damn good with their wood, and if it isn't Tama, it isn't a drum.
